Mold and bad odors are an inevitable consequence of any fire or water damage. Without the correct treatment, they can lead to significant occupier discomfort and even serious health issues, from which liabilities can result.
We employ a number of techniques, including deodorization, to mitigate against bad odor and remove bacteria, fungi, yeast, mold and mildew.
These methods range from wet fogging with environmentally friendly disinfectants to thermal dry fogging and ozone treatment to mitigate against mold, reduce customer interruption, prevent repeat costs of restoration and potentially prevent health related claims.
Polygon employs professionals from all over the country and our staff is trained on the latest processes related to the restoration industry.
Polygon’s core services are property damage restoration and temporary climate control.
Locally we have on staff IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) trained individuals, and ACAC (American Council for Accredited Certification) trained employees.
IICRC – Applied Microbial Remediation Technician
ACAC – Certified Microbial Remediation Supervisor
The restoration industry combines services in Water Extraction, Carpet Cleaning, Water Damage, Mold Remediation and Fire Damage and Document Restoration. Most companies like Polygon specialize in some or all of these services as they become closely related every day and on every loss.
1. Water Damage left untreated can lead to mold remediation
2. Fire Damage usually employs water damage and combines both services
3. Mold usually requires specialized equipment to dry the area properly. The same equipment is utilized in Water Damage.
You can see how the services are combined and related to one another.
“Molds can be found almost anywhere; they can grow on virtually any organic substance, as long as moisture and oxygen are present. There are molds that can grow on wood, paper, carpet, foods, and insulation. When excessive moisture accumulates in buildings or on building materials, mold growth will often occur, particularly if the moisture problem remains undiscovered or unaddressed. It is impossible to eliminate all mold and mold spores in the indoor environment. However, mold growth can be controlled indoors by controlling moisture indoors.” EPA
Most of the recommendations or protocols are in place to protect the individual completing the remediation task or to prevent mold from spreading throughout an indoor environment. (1)Polygon employs Air Filtration Devices(HEPA) to filter the air to 99.9%.(2) HEPA vacuums are then utilized to minimize cross contamination and finally (3)cleaning or source removal. Third party health professionals are generally involved to make sure the process is followed and to verify proper completion.
Polygon employs all EPA recommended procedures and guidelines. All projects are given an Industry Standard of Care that usually exceeds customers’ expectations.
“The key to mold control, is moisture control.” EPA
