Darryl Silk joined the Major & Complex Claims Team in August 2016 as a Support Technician. Since then he has shown the desire to learn and understand what it takes to work in the Damage Control industry.
It was clear from the early stages that Darryl had the drive to take on more and more
responsibility. He has been mentored by Ron Willard - one of the Major & Complex
Claims Teams most experienced Supervisors.
Ron commented, “Darryl has shown a real understanding of the company core
values. His work ethic is excellent and he shows empathy to every customer. Right
from day one he wanted to know all the details of everything and within no time he
was challenging me on how we carried out projects, wanting to ensure best value in
all he does.”
From 1st July 2018 Darryl will be promoted to the role of Major & Complex Claims
Supervisor working in the Southern Region under the guidance of Steve Rowen, with
continued support from his colleagues across the business.
Steve commented, “Since joining as a Support Technician, Darryl has worked really
hard, he has fitted in with the team very well and he goes the extra mile for our
customers. He has shown a great attitude towards learning and really wants
progression. I am sure Darryl will continue to be an asset to the team and I look
forward to working with him in his new role and supporting him to progress his
career with Polygon.”
Darryl said about his promotion, “I joined Polygon approximately 2 years ago from a
carpentry and joinery background. Ron Willard took me under his wing when I
started, and I worked with him every day for almost 2 years. I have learnt a variety of
new skills. For example, understanding different methods of drying and getting the
relative humidity correct for optimal drying. I have run a variety of different sites
now. Some under the mentorship of Ron Willard, and some smaller ones on my own.
Ron has helped me so much to achieve my goals. Steve Rowen has also always been
on the end of the phone and willing to help and support me. My promotion from
Support Technician to Supervisor is a massive confidence boost and is what I was
aiming for. I hope to keep progressing within Polygon.”
Major & Complex Claims Director, Richard Done commented, “It’s great to see
people we bring into the business grow and strive to be the best they can possibly
be. The promotion of Darryl shows not only the hard work and commitment shown
from him but also our commitment to growth in this sector for Polygon, and we
hope to have more news in the coming days about our continued expansion.”
