A pharmacy in the south of the Netherlands was exposed to the coronavirus when an infected customer visited. They contacted their cleaning company which in turn reached out to Polygon to carry out the disinfection.
The pharmacy needed the store space cleaned of possible coronavirus traces to prevent spreading the virus to store personnel and other customers. Polygon began the assignment on Sunday morning whilst the shop was closed. All fire alarm systems were shut off, and the security team was notified.
“We always have safety first in mind. Our colleagues were equipped with all the necessary personal protection equipment to carry out the disinfection in a safe way. No one else, besides our team, was in the store during and after the process”, says Wil de Kok, Area and Unit Manager at Polygon Netherlands.
The total assignment was to clean 500 m3, including all the back office, including the administration office, storage rooms and staff areas.
“Normally we carry out cleaning and disinfection services by hand, with a cloth and a disinfection agent. For this disinfection assignment, the team used the fogging technique as used by our Scandinavian colleagues.
“This fogging technique enables us to disinfect a whole area including the parts that can be hard to reach. Since no residues are left on the surface, there is no need to move or remove anything from the area.
“Since Polygon focus on being as climate neutral as possible, one benefit with the fogging technique is that it is environmentally friendly and causes no harm to electrical equipment”, concludes Wil.
