The main purpose of the role is to proactively lead Health & Safety across Polygon UK & Ireland ensuring the well-being of all colleagues, compliance with relevant regulations and the creation of a safe working envirnoment. 

Key Activities will include but not be limited to 

  • Developing and implementing health and safety policies, procedures and guidelines that comply with UK legislation and industry standards. 
  • Regularly review and update policies to ensure ongoing relevance and effectiveness 
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and prevent accidents or incidents.
  • Raise awareness of health and safety issues and promote a positive safety culture within the organisation.
  • Collaborate with all departments to integrate health and safety considerations into daily operations.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine their root causes.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of incidents.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, as needed.
  • Collect and analyse health and safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance by implementing best practices and adopting new technologies or methodologies.
  • Serve as the organisation's representative in legal matters related to health and safety.

To succeed in this position we believe you need to be....

  • Chartered in Health & Safety CMIOSH
  • Certified membership of the Association of project safety CMAPS, CDM related 
  • Thorough knowledge of CDM regulations 2005
  • Extensive experience of the application of the CDM regulations 2005 both client side and contractor side (essential)
  • Significant experience in a senior role with a major general contractor or major specialist contractor, either operational or health and safety.
  • Qualified to carry out fire risk assessments.
  • Qualified to act in the role of responsible person, water quality / Legionella.
  • Experience in advising on training requirements at all levels.
