Polygon’s Andrew Vincent recognised by industry body for outstanding performance

Polygon UK & Ireland’s vastly experienced Andrew Vincent has been honoured by the British Damage Management Association (BDMA) for achieving the highest score in the 2021 cohort of BDMA Senior Technicians.

Andrew’s impressive achievement in this demanding exam led to him receiving an honourable mention in the BDMA’s Dr Barry White Award, an annual chance to celebrate exceptional performance across all of the association’s various qualifications.

Andrew joined Polygon in 2005 on a temporary basis, and has consistently worked through the internal training programmes developed by the company to ensure people across Polygon learn the practical and soft skills needed to achieve the qualifications that the BDMA offers.

Andrew has developed his knowledge and skills over those 17 years, moving up through the business. He currently holds the post of Commercial Business Development Manager within the Major and Complex Claims (MCC) team and will very soon be moving to a new role of Project Optimisation Manager, where he will use his knowledge to enable the MCC field team to deliver an even better service to Polygon customers.

Andrew has built up a wealth of experience over his career, having responded to a wide variety of properties and businesses affected by major damage incidents, including schools, factories, airfields and football stadiums. Earlier in his career, he supported businesses during the major flood events in Hull and Sheffield in 2007 and in Cumbria in 2009.

“The Senior Technician qualification is a difficult and detailed test of knowledge so being recognised by the BDMA for my achievements at this level is a real honour as well as a very pleasant surprise,” says Andrew. “It’s also recognition that Polygon are a true market leader in the development and training of staff. Without the commitment of the company in the training offered, I wouldn’t have been in a position to take the qualification in the first place. If this inspires just one of our technicians, claims handlers or support staff across the business to really engage with the Polygon training programme and they go on to better my score, then it was worth every minute of self-learning, driving to training courses and spending nights away from my family.”

“A lot has changed in my time here, but the company has always promoted the importance of personal development and keeping up with the latest industry techniques and industry-wide thinking. Through both formal qualifications and working with very experienced teams, I’ve learned a lot about how to put policyholders at ease – letting them know that while things might not look great when you walk through the door, you understand their concerns and can help put things right as quickly as possible.”

Richard Done, Commercial Operations Director at Polygon, added: “It is incredibly rewarding to see Andrew be recognised by the BDMA for his results in the Senior Technician exam. He challenged himself to take on this high-level qualification to build on his role in the Major and Complex Claims team and his score reflects the positive attitude and commitment he brings to his work.

“Continuous development is part of our DNA at Polygon - ‘Excellence’ is one of our values - and we are proud to support all our colleagues in furthering their learning, thereby enhancing the service we bring to our clients. We invest in training every year and have done so consistently for over a decade. Our aim is to really lead the industry in the development of the knowledge and skills to deliver a best-in-class service - treating policyholders with Empathy and acting with Integrity. We believe to maintain the position as the industry’s number one employer of choice, we have to enable our colleagues to develop, which drives engagement and ultimately allows our clients to retain their customers.”
