As we mark World Earth Day, it is a moment to reflect on how we reduce our environmental impact, stay resilient, and support our customers on their journeys to reduce emissions. In temporary climate solutions, the use of equipment sits at the core of our operations, making it a natural place to focus when looking to reduce our impact.
Operational excellence goes hand in hand with sustainability. At Polygon, we are actively working across the Group to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and use more energy-efficient solutions through multiple initiatives, including expanding remote monitoring capabilities, advancing smart functionality, and continuing to educate and share knowledge about innovative technologies.
Polygon Finland is a clear example of this approach in action. The team recently invested in air-to-air heat pumps, equipment that uses a small amount of electricity to capture heat from the surrounding air and reuse it for heating, drying, and cooling. In simple terms, instead of generating heat by burning fuel, the system moves existing heat from one place to another. With the capability to produce up to three times more energy than the electrical input, it is a far more energy-efficient solution.
With this investment, Polygon Finland has reduced the litres of fossil fuel used in equipment by approximately 35% from 2023 to 2025.
Our responsibility is not only to reduce our own impact, but to do it in a way that also benefits our customers. This is a solution that achieves both,” comments Tom Jaatinen, Country President, Polygon Finland.
By reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and using more efficient on-site solutions, we maintain high service standards while lowering emissions and energy use, replacing oil-based equipment with systems that also improve climate control, drying times, and working conditions.
Polygon Finland’s initiative shows how practical decisions on-site can drive meaningful change by turning sustainability from an ambition into something tangible, measurable, and part of everyday work.
