Polygon Group, a leading multinational company specializing in property damage control, has bolstered its global management team with the appointment of Christian Waechter to the newly created position of Chief Transformation Officer (CTO). Christian previously served as Chief Operations Officer (COO), and his former role will now be taken over by Michael Meierhöfer, who joins Polygon from IFCO, the world's leading supplier of Reusable Packaging Containers (RPCs).
Polygon has experienced substantial growth in recent years and now boasts a workforce of over 7,000 employees across 16 countries, with robust net sales growth. By expanding the leadership team and splitting the existing Group COO role into two distinct C-suite positions, Polygon aims to place greater emphasis on harnessing the full potential of evolving technology and IT landscapes. CEO Axel Gränitz expressed enthusiasm about Christian Wächter assuming the new role as CTO, stating that Christian and his team will focus on driving transformation and process implementation across the Group, as well as further developing the enabling technology and IT infrastructure.
Michael Meierhöfer brings a wealth of experience as an executive with a strong background in operations leadership, particularly in private equity-backed companies with decentralized business models. His most recent role at IFCO involved overseeing global operations management responsibilities spanning 50+ countries and more than 120 plant operations. Axel Gränitz emphasized that Michael's expertise will be instrumental in developing and implementing operational excellence initiatives, including the international transfer of best practices. He and his team will work towards improving the operational setup to provide a solid foundation for Polygon's continued profitable growth.
Michael Meierhöfer is set to formally assume his position on October 1, and both the CTO and COO roles will report directly to Group CEO Axel Gränitz.
