Polygon Secures patent for Advanced Peracetic Acid Monitoring and Control System

[PRESS RELEASE] Boston, January 7, 2025 - Boston, MA – Polygon US Corporation is pleased to announce the recent issuance of U.S. Patent No. 12,082,601, which covers an innovative Peracetic Acid (PAA) monitoring and control system designed to enhance disinfection and safety standards in food processing. Polygon’s ExactAire® technology has the potential to transform operational safety and efficiency in traditional food processing facilities. It is actively opening doors into construction, commercial property management, and other segments where indoor air quality management is increasingly essential.

“This patent is an exciting step forward for Polygon’s digital solutions portfolio and serves as a key milestone in our goal to transform interior climate management and risk mitigation standards across many industries,” said Frank Dobosz, President at Polygon US Corporation.  “We are working closely with clients in the field to expand our focus beyond the traditional applications like temperature and humidity control to address more problems where the benefits of efficient, safe, and responsible monitoring and control of environmental conditions are critical.”

Developed to address critical needs in food and beverage safety, Polygon’s patented system enables precise, real-time control of PAA concentrations both in liquid form and airborne environments. Peracetic acid (PAA) is a strong oxidizer that is used to sanitize and disinfect surfaces and food products. However, PAA can be a threat to workers if not used properly or monitored for safe levels. Polygon’s technology not only tracks and alerts on poor conditions but also automatically turns house systems or temporary equipment on/off depending on real-time readings.  The comprehensive solution allows facility managers to monitor, document, and control conditions before they become an issue, avoiding risks associated with employee safety or shutdown, and helps maintain good standing with regulatory compliance. The same technology is capable of monitoring ambient temperature and humidity conditions and has since been adapted to monitor indoor air quality parameters and other toxic gases like ammonia and carbon monoxide.

“I am thrilled we can bring this patented technology to the food industry and help keep facilities running smoothly and workers safe,” said David Simkins, Director of Engineering and Technology at Polygon. “Our digital services have evolved dramatically over the last 5 years. It is rewarding to reconfigure and evolve the technology for other interesting and important applications including vibration monitoring, IAQ monitoring, energy management, and carbon avoidance.

With this patent, Polygon will lead the way in redefining environmental control in industries that require stringent safety protocols and adaptable solutions. This technology serves as a foundation for further innovation, providing customizable solutions that can be scaled to meet unique challenges across diverse fields.
