Polygon's near-term emissions target approved by Science Based Targets initiative

Press release, Stockholm, July 5, 2024

Polygon Group, the European leading player in property damage control, has officially received approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its near-term science-based emissions reduction target.

This approval underscores Polygon Group's commitment to combating climate change and aligning its business and targets with the most rigorous climate science as well as the principles of the Paris Agreement.

Axel Gränitz, CEO of Polygon Group, stated:
“Our science-based target proves our commitment to building a sustainable business, by doing not what is easy but what is necessary. I want my colleagues to feel proud of working for Polygon and by letting science lead our course of action we are preparing our business for the future and supporting our customers on their environmental journey."

Targets

Polygon Group's approved targets include substantial reductions in all three scopes of emissions.

  • Polygon Group AB commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030. *
  • Polygon Group AB also commits to reducing scope 3 GHG emissions 51.6% per EUR of value added within the same timeframe.

Camilla Annerling Barck, Head of Sustainability at Polygon Group, commented:
”The latest climate science from The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - described by the UN as “code red for humanity” - shows it is still possible to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, but that we are dangerously close to that threshold. Polygon is proud to have set a science-based target, positioning us as corporate leaders of the low-carbon transition.”

As Polygon Group moves forward, it will continue to engage all stakeholders—employees, suppliers, and customers. This collective effort is critical to align with the ambitious targets set by global climate science and to ensure a sustainable future for all.
