Delivering Response, Reliability and Results in the environment, in society and in governance.

Polygon provides property damage restoration and temporary humidity control across the globe and is the European market leader in property damage restoration. Through the continuous development of its people, services and processes, it strives to delight customers by outstanding Response, Reliability and Results and be seen as a good place to work by its employees; thereby becoming the market leader in its chosen markets and achieve the best financial performance in the industry.

By definition of the work it does, the Group has a strong social and environmental responsibility. Its customers properties are damaged, their lives are disrupted and they feel vulnerable. Through the way the company works and the way it conducts itself, they feel reassured. All customer facing colleagues constantly reassure customers by demonstrating real care and attention, empathy and support for their predicament. And above all, ensure that they return the property to the customer in the shortest time possible.

The business has developed a range of services, specifically designed to reduce the impact on our environment, including restoration services that significantly reduce the need for original manufacture and its inherent costs on the environment in terms of raw material sourcing, processing, energy consumption, distribution etc. This includes an innovative solution to restore water damaged vehicles that would ordinarily be subject to a total loss and sold only as salvage.

As the leaders in the use of CO2 blasting for the reconditioning of equipment, the Group delivers considerable environmental benefits by reducing disposal volumes and the inherent costs associated with the manufacture of replacement goods. For electrical goods (including IT), the company is currently achieving a restoration rate in excess of 50% and for light and medium damaged goods, a rate of over 96%. The company’s industry leading and innovative leak detection services are nondestructive and therefore require very little reinstatement, as well as saving customers significant amounts of lost water. In addition, Polygon’s ExactAire® is the most advanced system available for monitoring the effectiveness of installed temporary environmental control equipment and therefore ensures power usage is minimised.

In Sweden, there are a number of green initiatives being employed including the purchase of green energy for all depots and a year on year reduction in car emissions, thanks to route planning. In line with the business strategy, training is being delivered that will multi-skill every technician. Traditionally technicians have been trained in one specific area; however, through multi-skilling the business will create better, stronger, more unified teams, capable of meeting the customer and financial challenges that lay ahead. Launched in 2004, the in-house training Academy was the first of its kind anywhere in the world and together with the ‘Passport to Competency’ programme, continues to ensure all levels within the business have the opportunity to develop new skills and attain industry recognised qualifications. The success of the Passport programme has resulted in specific competency frameworks being developed and delivered for Team Managers and technicians working within the leak detection and Property Damage Prevention service areas.

In addition the Project Management Certification Programme develops individuals’ capabilities in managing increasingly more complex, larger projects of all types. The Groups commitment to promoting and developing from within means that feasibly a technician could become an MD. As an example Neal Clarke joined the business 16 years ago as a technician and is now a regional director, with overall responsibility for sales and operations in that area.
