Pennsylvania KidsPeace suffers losses from fire and water damage

The KidsPeace residential center in North Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania reported a fire early on Thursday morning. None of the resident youth or staff were injured. Firefighters were on the scene from about 3:00 am to 7:00 pm. It is believed a circuit breaker in the building failed, causing the fire.

Oregon may be trying to prevent forest fires Obama’s way

Oregon, known for its green landscapes and conservation efforts, has to battle fierce forest fires on an annual basis. To try to help with this issue, former President George W. Bush’s administration suggested thinning trees in the areas around the 102 cabins of Diamond Lake, Ore. Thinning trees around cabins would help prevent the loss of homes in the area, but tress would also be thinned in the back-country.

Four businesses in Seattle destroyed by fire

Four businesses in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle are recovering from damage caused by fire and smoke on the 23rd of the month. These businesses include Green Bean Coffee House, Szechuan Bistro, C.C. Teriyaki and Pho Tic Tac. Nearby businesses suffered extensive damage from the nearby smoke and water from the rescue effort. Firefighters also took extra precautions and evacuated a nearby apartment complex.
