10,000 ton reduction of CO2 through Polygon’s WDR services last year

During spring, Polygon Group collaborated closely with two MSc students at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, in order to quantify how much CO2 we save through our WDR services. The purpose of this collaboration has been to push our focus on sustainability even further, something that is becoming increasingly important to both our customers and employees. The first estimates indicate that Polygon annually saves around 10 000 tons of CO2. The main reason is our ability to dry damaged material instead of destruction and replacement. The amount of CO2 that we save is equivalent to more than 14 000 round trips between London and New York.

800 assignments in one week

In early August last year, Oslo was hit by the heaviest rains in 30 years. Tunnels flooded and roads were blocked, causing gigantic tailbacks. And basements quickly filled up with water. A disaster was in the making. Even more so, since the Oslo Fire and Emergency Department issued a statement that they lacked the capacity to answer all the incoming calls. Homeowners in urgent need of help were asked to contact their insurance companies.

A multi-layered challenge

A science centre museum in Copenhagen is housed in a building that is more than a century old. To update facilities to be in line with today’s requirements, the museum had to be closed for a total renovation. Unfortunately, fire broke out during the work. The good news was that none of the exhibition materials were damaged because the premises had been emptied. The bad news was that enormous amounts of water were needed to extinguish the fire. Causing extensive damage to the roof and large sections of the museum.

A strong commitment despite hard conditions

A unique offshore assignment called for a Major and Complex team to the North Sea. On different platforms, located hours away from land, Polygon performed restoration after a fire had broken out. Due to the special circumstances of working offshore, the team effort was truly essential.
