Growing in walls, old books, wet documents and old carpets, mold is a problem that invades homes, schools and businesses when there is any hint of humidity. This summer the Florida Mold Bill became a law to establish standards for professionals who do mold assessments and perform remediation services in the state.
To help raise awareness about disaster preparedness among children and teens, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) has deployed age-appropriate activities to educate this population.
Mountain View Elementary School in Colorado’s Windsor School District experienced over $100,000 in water damage over the Thanksgiving holiday. The disaster caused the school to close its doors for three days to make sure the facility was safe for students before it re-opened its doors.
Only days after a burst pipe flooded the Old City Hall building in Tacoma, WA with over 30,000 gallons of water, a neighboring historic downtown building on Pacific Avenue suffered the same fate. The building is home to United Way of Pierce County offices.
