Restoration on a Major Fire Related Water Damage Claim

This case study details the challenging restoration process for a property managed by our Major & Complex Claims (MCC) division. The property sustained significant internal damage, not from a direct fire, but from the demolition of the adjacent, fire-damaged building.

The resulting damage included critical water ingress through the external wall, which led to subsequent water migration and severe internal moisture issues. This environment fostered widespread mould growth, demanding an immediate, comprehensive restoration strategy.

Starting the Extensive Program

Our goal is to meticulously restore the property to its pre-incident condition. As detailed by Jordan Collison, MCC Project Manager, on his first site visit, the team is beginning the program, focusing on two crucial, immediate phases:

  1. Full Mould Remediation Process: The priority is to fully and professionally remediate all mould contamination to stabilise the indoor environment and ensure the safety of the site.

  2. Advanced Drying Programme: Immediately following remediation, the team is initiating a crucial and carefully monitored drying program. This program is designed to eliminate deep-seated moisture and effectively address the ongoing water migration issues within the structure.

The Next Phase

After three weeks, Jordan's team successfully moved past the initial challenges and achieved a critical milestone: the Full Mould Remediation process was complete.

The team then began executing the second phase of the project, which is the crucial, targeted drying program. This phase requires ongoing monitoring and technical precision to ensure all moisture, particularly from the structural water migration caused by the neighbouring fire, is fully addressed.

Check out the video below! Scott Woodward (Head of Loss Adjuster Development) checks in with Jordan and his team to give us an exclusive look at the ongoing drying program.
