A recently opened school building, completed in 2024, was experiencing persistent and disruptive leaks in its classrooms, offices and hallways. Although initial repair efforts had been carried out, the school required absolute certainty that the underlying issues were fully resolved and that the roof structure was completely watertight before the problem could recur.
This case study details the challenging restoration process for a property managed by our Major & Complex Claims (MCC) division. The property sustained significant internal damage, not from a direct fire, but from the demolition of the adjacent, fire-damaged building.
A major multinational automotive distributor and service provider operates a large facility comprising a customer-facing showroom, a service bay with 20–25 car ramps and diagnostic equipment, and an upstairs office area.
A lithium battery for a forklift truck was on an ultra-fast charging point, which caught fire in the main warehouse while charging. Due to the warehouse build and active production environment, this caused soot contamination throughout the building, extending into the chiller, ambient, and freezer warehouse sections. The contamination affected the building structure, racks, and all surfaces.
